PRP Shop Opening
– Aubrey Dress by ModKid

(Sponsored: I got the pdf pattern for free, but am, of course, sharing my own opinion)
Finally. Sometimes you need a little push in the back to finally sew something that has been on your sewing list far too long. The Aubrey Dress by ModKid is a good example. When I was competing in Project Run and Play two years ago Courtney from Sweeter Than Cupcakes sewed this dress as part of her collection for the final week. I just LOVED it and was so happy when she released it as a pattern afterwards in a collaboration with ModKid. I so wanted to sew it, but consistently had more “important” projects for pattern releases etc. Well, I finally sewed it. Why now you might ask. Well, last week the brand new Project Run and Play Shop opened. This shop will only sell patterns that made their first appearance during a season of Project Run and Play. Obviously, one needs a new beautiful dress to celebrate this occasion.

Favorite Dress for older girls

I’m so glad that I finally sat down to sew the Aubrey. It quickly became one of my daughter’s fave dresses. Just now, while I’m writing this blog, she’s running around in the garden in it. The fit of the dress is really great and the insets at the side make it special. Overall she looks more like a teenager in it than like a little girl. It’s cooler than small girl dresses I guess.

I especially love the hidden kangaroo pocket. Such a fun detail, which, as you can see on the pics, is quite to the liking of my daughter. I chose to sew short banded sleeves, but the pattern also includes 3/4 length and long sleeves. I sewed a size 5, which I lengthened to a size 9. The instructions told me exactly how to do that and it turned out perfectly. The fit is just how I wanted it to be.

The fabrics both come from my stash. I first wanted to use turquoise fabric for the sides, but didn’t have enough left. Luckily, I didn’t. Cause I ended up

Last, but not least I have some more information about the shop opening for you. There is a blog tour running for 4 weeks to celebrate the shop opening. Each week will concentrate on one type of garment, which will also be 20% off for that time. This week all dress patterns are on sale. I seriously couldn’t love the Aubrey Dress more. It’s a wonderful pattern.
If you need more inspiration, make sure to check out the Project Run and Play Blog where every day you can see one pattern featured. Plus, make sure to follow the blog even afterwards. The competitions are always so much fun and absolutely worth checking out! The last season was AWESOME!

There even is a last goodie. Audrey, the PRP host, has organized a huge giveaway for the shop opening. Check it out!

This is an amazing make! I love fabric choice and your’e right about the “looks more like a teenager” thought process. I’m noticing that with my oldest too. Your pictures are also amazing, I have to say.
