Today I’m taking part in the “Rockliebe” (Skirt Love) blog tour by Frau Alberta. When she asked me to participate, I was a bit torn. I really like Anika and her blog and there are even some skirt patterns that I’ve wanted to sew since quite some time (e.g. the fun Wedgwood Skirt von Straight Stitch Designs or the beautiful Lotta skirt by my friend Marte from Compagnie M.), but I really don’t have a lot of time at the moment.
As you can see, I still chose to particpate. However, I sewed a totally different skirt. Even though I would have managed to sew one of the others in time, I just didn’t have the right fabric. My stash is big, but none of the woven fabrics called to be a skirt. Well, London Sew Social is coming soon (read about our Paris trip last year here) and I might find suitable fabric there.
For the moment I got more inspired by my knit stash. I’ve wanted to sew a striped circle skirt for quite some time, so this was the time to go for it. I love how the direction of the stripes changes in the different places of the skirt. I had a suitable jersey at home and this was a super fast project. Just measuring the waist, cutting two circles and adding an elastic at the waist. Easy peasy. I even skipped hemming as this is just a comfortable skirt for at home or the beach.
I’m sure I’ll wear it a lot when we visit the Netherlands in summer. It would also look nice at a a beach with palmtrees, but one can’t have everything, right? Unfortunately, I could only take indoor pics for which I had to bump ISO up leading to some graininess. I’m a very optimistic person and hoped that the sun would come out at some point, but southern Germany has mainly seen grey sky and rain during the last days. Well, at least I can dream of sun, beach, sand and the sea.
Until actually seeing the sea again, I might even sew one of the skirts that the other girls showed during the Rockliebe blogtour. Come take a look around. There are some nice ones. Also, let me know what your favorite patterns are? Which one do I need to try?
Danke, liebe Anika, dass ich bei dir dabei sein durfte. Es hat mich wirklich sehr gefreut Teil dieser tollen Runde zu sein!
