Do you guys know the Sew Fab Pattern Bundle? I’m sure you do. The sew fab pattern sale happens twice a year and offers a bundle of several patterns for a really great price. While in the past the bundles consisted of pre-released patterns, this time the patterns are all brand new women patterns. I have purchased several of the bundles in the past and was so happy when I got invited to take part in the Sew Fab Pattern Tour.
Habt ihr schon mal vom Sew Fab Pattern Bundle gehört? Dieses Paket von (immer wieder anderen) Schnittmustern wird zweimal pro Jahr verkauft. Bisher waren immer Schnitte enthalten, die man zuvor auch bereits einzeln kaufen konnte. Diesmal jedoch sind lauter bisher unveröffentlichte Frauenschnitte enthalten. Ich hab einige der bisherigen Bundles gekauft und mich riesig gefreut als ich eingeladen wurde an dieser Sew Fab Pattern Tour teilzunehmen.
I decided to sew two of the patterns from the bundle. Today I want to show you the Capitol Hill Dress by my friend Kimberly from Straight Stitch Designs. The pattern includes both tunic and dress length, three different skirt variations (gathered, half circle skirt, circle skirt) and two sleeve lengths. It has a very unique pleating detail at the bottom of the front bodice and can be casual or dressy depending on your fabric choice.
Ich hab mich entschieden zwei Schnitte aus dem Bundle zu nähen. Heute zeig ich euch das Capitol Hill Dress meiner Freundin Kimberly von Straight Stitch Designs. Der Schnitt enthält sowohl Tunika als auch Kleidlänge, drei verschiedene Rockteile (eingereiht, halber Tellerrock, Tellerrock) und zwei Ärmellängen. Außerdem sind im unteren Teil des Oberteils Falten gelegt, die das ganze etwas besonders machen. Je nach Stoffwahl kann das Kleid alles von leger bis chic sein.
This was the first one of Kimberly’s patterns that I’ve sewn and I’m really excited about the quality. Kimberly started designing patterns only half a year ago and I’m really impressed. The pattern pieces fit together perfectly and the instructions are detailed and with beautiful illustrations. She even has made a little video tutorial for the pleating detail.
Das hier ist der erste von Kimberlys Schnitten, den ich genäht habe und ich bin wirklich begeistert von der Qualität. Kimberly hat erst vor einem halben Jahr mit dem Designen von Schnitten begonnen und ich bin wirklich beeindruckt. Die Schnittteile passen perfekt zusammen und die Anleitung ist sehr detailiert und mit schönen Illustrationen. Sie hat sogar ein kleines Videotutorial für das Faltendetail gemacht.
As always I blended sizes according to the measurements in the sizing chart. The fit is now spot on and I can see myself wearing this dress a lot. Sewing the dress is super easy. Just a few more steps than a tee, so with some sewing experience I guess you could sew this within 1,5 hours. If you are just starting to sew with knits you totally can handle this project as it’s not difficult. You will just need a little bit more time.
Wie immer hab ich meinen Maßen entsprechend verschieden Größen ineinander übergehen lassen. So passt das Kleid jetzt perfekt und ich werd es bestimmt viel tragen. Zu nähen ging das ganze total einfach. Nur ein paar Schritte mehr als ein T-Shirt. Mit etwas Näherfahrung ist das in 1,5 h genäht. Und als Anfänger schafft man das auch, da es ja nicht schwierig ist. Dauert nur etwas länger.
Well, and if you are ME you will need a lot more time. I mentioned in some of my previous posts that I have borrowed a serger from my friend. I’m really enjoying to try it out, but at some point I think I just ruined the tension. I didn’t realise it while sewing and so when I tried on the bodice, ALL seams broke! It was a disaster! Luckily my friend lives just some houses away and came over to help me. We couldn’t fully resolve what was the problem, but managed to make it work more or less again. I think part of the problem was my fabric choice. This kind of knit just stretches like crazy. So to not get the seams all wavy I played with the differential feed… Well, in the end, to not fully ruin my newly sewn bodice, I decided to sew the rest of the dress using my normal sewing machine. I just used the normal zigzag and re-sewed (yes, I know!) every single seam! It took like forever, but now I don’t have to fear that when I reach for a cup in the upper shelf I’ll suddenly stand there in my underwear ;)
Oder, falls ihr ICH seid viel mehr. Ich hab in einem meiner letzten Posts erwähnt, dass ich eine Ovi von meiner Freundin ausgeliehen habe. Macht richtig Laune das Teil auszuprobieren, aber irgendwie hab ich wohl die Fadenspannung durcheinandergebracht. Dummerweise hab ich das erst bemerkt als ich das Oberteil anprobiert hab und ALLE Nähte gerissen sind. So ein Mist! Zum Glück wohnt meine Freundin nur ein paar Häuser von mir entfernt und kam gleich rüber um mir zu helfen. Wir sind nicht ganz drauf gekommen wo das Problem ist, aber haben es geschafft, dass die Ovi wieder halbwegs läuft. Wahrscheinlich lag’s an meiner Stoffwahl. Dieser Strickstoff dehnt sich wie verrückt und ich hab dann mal am Differential rumgespielt… Naja, schlussendlich wollt ich das Kleid nicht ganz ruinieren und bin sicherheitshalber zurück an meine normale Nähmaschine. Dort hab ich jede (ja, ich weiß!) Naht nochmal mit dem normalen Zick-Zack-Stich genäht. Das hat ewig gedauert. Ist mir aber lieber als dass ich, wenn ich mich das nächste Mal nach der Tasse vom obersten Regalbrett strecke, plötzlich in Unterwäsche da steh.
Well, soon I’ll have forgotten about the pain that this fabric gave me and just be happy about the new dress that I’ve added to my wardrobe. With the right accessories and tights I can totally see myself wearing it at Christmas, but also like normal basic dress to work or so.
Naja, meine Probleme mit dem Stoff werd ich bald vergessen haben und dann werd ich einfach nur froh über mein neues Kleid sein. Vielleicht zieh ich’s mit passender Strumpfhose und Schal sogar an Weihnachten an? Und sonst geht’s als Basic-Kleid sowieso immer.
