Week 3 of Project Run and Play is here and I’m still competing. And not only competing. I actually won week 2, which is pretty incredible. Thank you all for your votes. I couldn’t do this without you! But, now it’s time for week 3. The theme this week is “All that Glitters”. If you have been following my little blog for more than a day, you’ll know that I’m not a very glittery person (besides my big love for my glitter Lindens). I love to sew everyday wear. I want to see those clothes again and again on my kids – and not just for one special occasion. To stay true to myself I decided to sew something for a Kids’ Night Out. I.e. fun, yet stylish, comfortable, yet edgy clothes with glitter and sparkle thrown in for a fun mix. I wanted to create a special look full of details that would be perfect both for a nice family dinner in a beautiful restaurant, but also for running around on the playground.
I really love using english patterns. However, there are also many great german patterns. I often find that people are afraid of using patterns from designers from other countries not only due to different sizing or due to the language, but also due to the necessary conversion from cm to inch. I have gathered some tips to help you with this.
How do you handle measurements? Do you measure yourself or your kids again for each garment? Do you know the measurements by heart? Or do you have little notes lying around everywhere like I did? When looking for the measurements of one of us, I often wasn’t even sure whose measurements these were. I never knew how long ago I took them. I had to change something. My chaos is your luck: I made a free printable that I’m sure all of you have some use for!
